Troubleshooting No Power or No Lights on Your Salt Chlorine Generator

Pool owners who find their Saltwater Chlorinator off and non-responsive—it won’t turn on—are usually facing one of several standard issues to check. Beyond these basics, troubleshooting can be very model-specific and often requires sending the unit in for service.

Is Power Reaching the Unit?

• Check the Breaker: Check the breaker box and see whether the breaker has tripped.
• Test the Outlet: If you are using a wall socket, plug in a working device to determine whether that outlet is supplying power, or plug the unit into a known working outlet.
• Test Hardwired Connections: If your unit is hardwired to the circuit, you will want to test the circuit with a suitable multimeter. If you are not familiar with this process, seek assistance from someone who is.
• Check Shared Circuits: If your unit shares a circuit, the other device on that circuit will generally serve to indicate whether power is present.

Is Power Present, But the Unit Will Not Power Up?
