Sizing:

If you’re already in the process of replacing your Hayward T-Cell-9 Turbo Cell, take this opportunity to make sure it is sized correctly.

Having the right size salt cell for your pool is one of the most crucial things you need to know when purchasing your salt cell. Failure to get the right size salt cell can lead to having to purchase additional chlorine or shock for your pool, costing more time and effort. With a properly sized salt cell, you can even extend the lifespan of your cell!

The industry recommends using a salt cell with a maximum capacity of 1.5-2 times the actual size of your pool, but keep in mind it’s wise to oversize. The Hayward T-Cell-9 Turbo Cell is manufacturer rated for a maximum capacity of 25,000 gallons.

Compatibility:

The Hayward T-Cell-9 Turbo Cell is 100% compatible with original systems, with no software/hardware issues. The T-9 Turbo Cell for Hayward has the same length, threading, and cable connection for direct replacement.

To get the most life out of your salt cell and to keep your pool running without unexpected interruptions:

  • Make sure it is sized correctly
  • Maintain correct water balance
  • Be sure to inspect your cell at least every 3 months for leaks, debris & calcium scale
  • Follow instructions in the product manual & clean the cell as often as instructed

FAQ

Q: Does it included the power cord and 2 unions as pictured?

Asked by: Chris - 4/27/2017
A: Yes, the power cord is included and permanently attached to the cell. While Hayward pictures the unions in their imagery for identification purposes, they do not include unions in the box with the cell, as it is meant to replace an existing cell and connect to existing unions without having to re-install. The unions are available as separate parts in both 2" and 1.5" sizes.

Q: I need to replace my T 9 Goldline cell is this the same cell? It is listed as part number T15

Asked by: Tony - 7/4/2017
A: This product is a "T-9" (also called "T-Cell-9") Hayward replacement cell, for pools up to 25,000 gallons max. If your part has T15 written on it, then you may want to look at the "T-15" / "T-Cell-15" replacement salt cell, for pools up to 40,000 gallons max.

Q: 1 have a 15000 pool with a t-15. I want to change to the t cell 9 ?

Asked by: chief - 7/11/2018
A: You'll have to see if your control box can handle that "Cell Type" (instructions below). You would only want to get a cell that your control box has an option for. Many older T-15 models will not have an option for smaller cell types. Regardless, bigger is better so you might want to consider sticking with the larger size: its a better value, you can turn it up higher when you need it to clear up problems, and it means your system will work less hard to do the same job and will last you longer. Q: does the AquaRite need to be re calibrated ?

Asked by: Robert - 7/12/2018
A: There is a lot of misunderstanding about "calibration" of salt systems. While there is NOT a way to change what your salt system reads, you can "push" the Hayward's real-time salinity reading to replace/update the system's average salinity on its default display screen. To do this, press the diagnostic button 5 times to view the real-time salinity on the screen, then slide the "Super Chlorinate" switch from "Auto" to "Super Chlorinate" back to "Auto.

Q: is this the exact replacement for a hayward turbo cell GLX-9-w?

Asked by: Paul - 11/29/2019
A: Yes exactly. You'll see newer Hayward branded cells as T-9 instead of GLX-9 for example. Plug and play replacement.
