The generic replacement salt cell compatible with Pentair IntelliChlor® models is a great way to upgrade your salt chlorinator system while replacing your old Pentair salt cell. The generic IC40 makes 2.1 lbs/day of chlorine (compare to a IC60 model!). Guaranteed compatibility when replacing your original OEM Intellichlor salt chlorine generator, delivering improved chlorination capacity so your equipment can run less, use less energy, and last longer!

Even better, the generic Pentair IntelliChlor replacement cell comes with an onboard digital controller that allows you to adjust chlorine output with a tap of a button, and displays the actual salinity in PPM! With this aftermarket replacement, you get more and pay less!

    Compatibility Guaranteed:
  • Pentair IntelliChlor IC40 (IC20 or IC60 as well)
  • Pentair Intelli-Chlor 40,000 Gallons
  • All IntellChlor 520556 Power Centers
  • Item IDs: 520555 (520554 or 521105 as well)

The generic Pentair IC40 replacement salt cell is an affordable after-market option that can provide big savings over more expensive OEM Pentair IC-40 replacement cell. Plus it's an easy drop-in replacement with guaranteed compatible connections for the Pentair IC-40 (as well as IC-20 and IC-60). The cell meets or exceeds factory specs and includes power adapter cord (standard 14') and unions compatible with the Intellichlor models.

Note: The generic IntelliChlor cell does not utilize a RS-485 or data connection for integration with automation systems like Pentair Intellitouch, Pentair Easy Touch®, Jandy® AquaLink®, Hayward® AquaLogic® and Hayward ProLogic®

Q: The generate light is flashing green. What does this mean? All other lights are sold green.

Asked by: beam - 6/12/2019
A: When the system is operational and connected to power, the "Generate" LED light will be lit solidly. During times that the system is currently generating chlorine, the "Generate" LED light blinks (this will be intermittently throughout the day unless you leave it at 100% output).

Q: does the cell still need to be cleaned and if so how often?

Asked by: Michael Parla - 11/15/2019
A: Yes, all salt cells need to be cleaned eventually. The frequency of cleaning for this cell should be just as much time as your original. The amount of time that actually takes depends on your water chemistry, and on average that could be once ever 6-8 weeks. The LED indicators let you know when though.

Q: Can I plug this into the pentair easy touch panel? Will it have enough power to run this ?

Asked by: Christa - 6/23/2019
A: It has the same standard Pentair IntelliChlor cord connections, and yes it can be used with the standard Pentair power supply unit. These don't communicate with external controllers or RS485 data connections (though that isn't necessarily needed).

Q: I have always ran my pump 100% of the time and my pentair ic40 just went out after 7 years. As long as I set the salt generator correctly is it ok if I run my pool pump continuously

Asked by: Joann - 8/12/2020
A: You would just likely need to turn down the salt generator so you don't over chlorinate your pool. If you aren't already using a Variable Speed Pump, you may want to take a look at one if you are running your pump 24 hours - you'll save a significant amount of money.
