Sizing:

When replacing your Aquarite salt cell, take this opportunity to make sure it is sized correctly. Sizing your salt cell properly is key to making sure you will not need to supplement with additional chlorine or shock your pool, and also extends the lifespan of your cell. The industry recommends using a salt cell with a max capacity of 1.5-2 times the actual size of your pool (more is better). The CircuPool CIR-GEN9 is manufacturer rated for a maximum capacity of 25,000 gallons.

Compatibility:

This aftermarket replacement salt cell for the Aquarite is 100% compatible with original systems of the same size (no software/firmware issues). The CircuPool CIR-GEN9 cell has the same length, threading, and cable connection for direct replacement.

To get the most life out of your salt cell and to keep your pool running without unexpected interruptions, make sure it is sized correctly, maintain correct water balance, and be sure and inspect your cell at least every 3 months for leaks, debris, and calcium scale. Be sure to follow instructions in the product manual and clean the cell as often as the system indicates.

FAQ

Q: Can I change this t-9 for the t-5 I have? Blue essence is the Hayward I have

Asked by: Ron - 4/3/2017
A: Hayward has produced a number of different versions of their controls, so you'll simply want to confirm whether your control box can support the cell type you want.

Click here for Hayward's instructions to change your system's cell type, look under the "Connecting to an AQR" section, and substitute "t-9" for "T-15". Cycle through the available options on your controller to see what will be compatible.

Q: I have a blue essence t-9 20,000 gallon salt cell, can I replace it with your aqua-rite t-9 25,000 gallon salt cell?

Asked by: George - 9/26/2017
A: Yes, absolutely. The Blue Essence label was an online version that is the same as the AquaRite, Swim Pure Plus, Goldline, Mineral Springs, as well as many other sub-brands - they are all made by Hayward, and are different names for the same thing. If it says T-9 on it, then it will be fully compatible.

Q: Can I use this replacement cell to replace a Hayward Turbo cell T-Cell-15? My pool is about 20,000 gallons. Thanks

Asked by: Doug - 4/18/2018
A: If your controller is less than 8 or 9 years old then yes. If you want to check, see the below instructions to see if your controller has the matching T-9 "Cell Type" setting. Keep in mind though that bigger is better, the T-15 just means your system will work less hard to do the same job and will last you longer. Q: If I calculated my pool at 14K gal, why do you think they installed a Haywood T-15 and not a T-9?

Asked by: Tom - 4/6/2017
A: For saltwater chlorinators, bigger is always better. Your T-15 was able to make as much chlorine as your pool needed, without wearing itself out as quickly. So in the end, a larger system lasts longer and can be turned up to a higher level to more quickly sanitize the water if pool problems ever arise. If possible, I'd recommend choosing the larger option.

Q: Have a pool using a Hayward Aqua-rite T-3 is this T-9 a direct replacement? Would like to increase output. I know I will have to reprogram the control unit. Are control units same for all sizes of cells? When I say direct replacement I mean no plumbing, just unscrew old and screw on the new plus reprogram of course.

Asked by: PoolMan - 6/3/2017
A: Yes, that is absolutely correct. With this you will unscrew the old cell, screw this new cell in place, and change the cell type to T-9.

Q: Does the connecting PVC fit the replacement unit , , in other words does it just insert and screw it on , same size and threads ???? Thanks

Asked by: Ken Davlin - 9/11/2019
A: Yes, this is completely plug-and-play. Just unscrew your old T-CELL-9 from the plumbing, unplug it from your control box, then put the new one back on in the same way. It should just take a couple minutes.
