Q: what is the word for conversion from saltwater to chlorine
A: Richard, converting your pool to saltwater is pretty easy. Basically, you would just add the equipment we carry, a saltwater chlorinator, to your existing pool and equipment. The salt chlorinator goes in the plumbing after the pump and filter. This often can be done in about an hour, and many people do this themselves. Once it is installed, you add salt to your pool (the manual describes how much based on your pool size). Salt comes in 40 lb bags, which you get from the hardware store pretty cheaply. The salt will dissolve in a day or so, then you are all set! The saltwater chlorinator sanitizes the pool whenever the pump runs, so you get beautiful, clean water without having to add anymore chlorine, shock, or algaecide.
Q: Will this work if installed vertically or does it have to be horizontal?
A: It can work whether installed horizontally or vertically.
Q: For new installation, what length of pipe must be removed for installation of salt cell? Space is limited.
A: Installation calls for cutting about a 13 ¾” gap in the pvc pipe.
Q: What is the power requirement for the system? I have a 220 volt feed for the pump. I plan to install it myself.
A: This system can work on either 220v or 110v. It is designed to be on the same circuit as the pump so they can go on and off together.
Q: When installing circupool universal40 cell vertically, which end of the cell flow to pool. I do not see any arrow showing which way it goes.
A: The cell is not directional, it works facing either way.
Q: I have a new intex 18x54 pool I’m installing. I bought the one that has the upgraded frame to resist corrosion. I’m only trying to get a couple years out of it to decide if we want to keep and maintain a real pool. Want a salt system but can’t find the intex brand. Can you advise if the CircuPool Universal25 Salt Chlorine Generator will be a good fit for this type of pool.
Q: How to to disconet cable from cell for cleaning ?
A: The cell cable unplugs from the face of the control panel. Open the control panel door, grip the cable firmly, and pull it away.
Q: Is this compatible with a 21,000 gallon above ground pools?
Q: I am considering using this system t replace a Hayward Aqua Trol. they Hayward has a timer that turns my pump on and off automatically. Does this system have that capability?
A: No, there are not currently any other models that have a built-in analog timer like that. However, "Intermatic" style timers are commonly available locally, and that would be the same amount of work to use when doing the installation.
Q: I have a circu pool si Sisries that is wore out will this one replace it? My pool is 25,000 gallons
Q: Why does my salt generator say hot in winter and generating lift blinking
A: If a heater is in operation, the water coming out of it is normally much hotter than the actual water temperature of the pool. If there is no heater in operation, there may be an issue with the system's temperature sensor. If so, it's usually pretty easy to fix if you give tech support a call.
Q: When converting to a salt generator, do I need to buy bags of salt to start it out?
A: Salt chlorine generators typically require that you add 30lbs of salt for every 1000 gallons of water. You get that locally, usually from the hardware store.
Q: I want to replace my Pentair ichlor 30 salt system. Will this Circupool Universal be an easy replacement without any modifications needed by a professional?
A: If you have an iChlor30 that was installed as the pool's first salt system, then you'll just need to cut it out and glue the new salt system in its place. If your iChlor30 replaced an older IntelliChlor model, it may be installed with an adapter kit and you could replace it with a new model that is marked as compatible with Pentair plumbing.
Q: Do they make a chlorine generator with 3 inch inlet and out let?
A: We do not know of any chlorine generators that have a 3'' inlet and outlet. If you have 3'' plumbing you can use reducers that would be available at a local hardware store to reduce it down to 2'' to install the cell.
Q: Haywood 25 is what i have been using. How does that compare toCircuPool
A: The two main things to compare is chlorine output (power) and warranty. This model mas a output of 1.25 lbs/day (compared to 0.9 lbs/day), and 4 year (vs 1 year)
Q: Is this the complete kit ? Aka everything I need for setup ? I don’t want to purchase and find out I need to spend more
A: Yes, this is the complete system: control module, salt cell, flow switch, fittings, etc...
Q: How long should the high salt light stay on
A: If the salinity in the pool is high, that means too much salt has been added and the high salt light will get triggered indefinitely. You'll need to take a sample to confirm the pool's salinity, and depending on how high the salt level is take out the appropriate amount of pool water. After that, turn the salt system back on.
Q: I use this unit on the lowest setting for my salt water(NaCL)hot tub and it works great! I’m considering switching to bromine due to my wife’s skin sensitivity. Will it generate bromine if I flush the system and add the sodium bromide? If so, where would I buy It(NaBr)? Thanks
A: That wouldn't be something that is normally done. Salt chlorinators are only labelled to be used with sodium chloride. Attempting to use something else would definitely be "off-label" use, if it works at all.
Q: Is there an upright installation kit for an series
A: The SJ series must be installed on two uprights so that its cell remains horizontal. You can see a picture of what that looks like on one of the thumbnail images.
Q: will it replace a Pentair salt generator ?
Q: Does this work with any automation systems, such as Pentair IntelliConnect?
A: It is easy to set this up however you are current controlling your pump. You can connect this to the power relay that controls your pump so they turn on/togther, or if you use a variable speed pump you would just provide constant power and the salt system's flow switch will activate it whenever it detects water flow.
Q: Can i buy just the generator. I have a cell the is only 30 days old so it is good but my base unit has failed.
A: The controller is not sold separately, but if there is an issue with it there typically is not a reason to just replace the whole thing - instead you can usually just get the part that you need on the controller.
