The Pentair iChlor30 electronic chlorine generator is a salt pool system with integrated controls and cell. The salt chlorinator works with existing pump and filtration systems to reliably supply the swimming pool with pure chlorine, every day. It uses ordinary salt to generate the chlorine your pool needs and helps create softer, silkier pool water. The iChlor (or i-chlor) is the latest salt chlorinator model from Pentair to help make it easy to maintain a sparkling clean pool. Max capacity: 30,000 gallons.
The complete Pentair iChlor salt system has two main components: the Power Supply Unit and the Electrolytic Cell (with built-in electronic controls), along with its miscellaneous hardware and documentation.
- 2nd-Generation system, combining a compact shape with a digital control screen.
- Connects to Pentair EasyTouch, IntelliTouch, and ScreenLogic2 (available for additional purchase) for SmartSense™ features.
- Detects pump activity to using integrated flow switch.
- Adjusts settings in small increments.
Pentair "Trade Grade" models are restricted by the manufacturer so that pricing, extended warranty, or direct purchase is not available online.
General FAQ
These saltwater chlorine generator systems come with everything you need except salt, PVC glue, primer, a saw, and a few common tools.
In addition to adding salt to your pool water, installation entails adding one new piece of equipment to your pool. This can be performed by a handyman, plumber, electrician, pool contractor or Do-It-Yourself (DIY).
If you are contemplating installation, read more here.
The simple, industry-wide, rule-of-thumb is that your salt system should be sized at 1.5 times your pool size, or more, for the temperate and colder parts of the US.
If you live in the southern sunbelt, then you should select a system with specs of at least 2 times your pool size.
Bear in mind that an undersized system will be a constant challenge, at best, while an oversized system will extend cell life and give you reserve capacity for weather events and periods of heavy use.

The Pentair iChlor controls have a backlit LCD screen that displays the power level you set on the unit, and has LED indicators to indicate a low/good/high salt level, chlorine generation, and water flow. The iChlor controls are built in to the system's replaceable salt cell. Be sure to mount the cell in a place where you can easily view and access its controls.
The Pentair iChlor cell is an inline solid PVC housing which contains built-in titanium electrode plates, built-in controls, built-in flow switch, and built-in power supply cord. The iChlor cell has threaded connections on the inlet and outlet, which allow quick access for service or winter removal (if applicable). The threaded connections attach to 2" unions. which are glued to the existing return-line PVC plumbing. Be sure to mount the cell in a place where you can easily view and access its controls. Pentair recommends installing the cell vertically.
The Pentair iChlor Series comes with 2" threaded cell unions, power cable, and instruction manual.
