A common sight on newly-built backyard swimming pools, the Hayward Aqua Rite electronic chlorine generator is a convenient alternative to traditional chlorination. The Aqua Rite is a NSF certified salt chlorinator which works with existing pump and filtration systems to reliably supply the swimming pool with pure chlorine, every day. Hayward salt generator uses a low salt level and makes the pool water silky soft to provide the ultimate swimming experience.
The complete Hayward Aqua Rite salt system has three main components: the Control Box, the TurboCell (electrolytic salt cell), and the Flow Switch, along with its miscellaneous hardware and documentation. Hayward offers three different size Aqua Rites for "right-size" chlorination, T-Cell-3 (15,000 gallons), T-Cell-9 (25,000 gallons), and T-Cell-15 (40,000 gallons).
The Aqua Rite is manufactured by one of the largest providers of swimming pool equipment, and is also know under the popular names Swim Pure Plus, Mineral Springs, Goldline Aquarite, NatureSoft, SplashCLEAR, AquaPlus, Blue Essence, and more. As a pool builder grade system, it has become one of the most widely-known salt systems available since it is the default choice for many pool stores as well as pool construction and service companies.

General FAQ
These saltwater chlorine generator systems come with everything you need except salt, PVC glue, primer, a saw, and a few common tools.
In addition to adding salt to your pool water, installation entails adding one new piece of equipment to your pool. This can be performed by a handyman, plumber, electrician, pool contractor or Do-It-Yourself (DIY).
If you are contemplating installation, read more here.
The simple, industry-wide, rule-of-thumb is that your salt system should be sized at 1.5 times your pool size, or more, for the temperate and colder parts of the US.
If you live in the southern sunbelt, then you should select a system with specs of at least 2 times your pool size.
Bear in mind that an undersized system will be a constant challenge, at best, while an oversized system will extend cell life and give you reserve capacity for weather events and periods of heavy use.

The Hayward Aqua Rite controls are a steel sheet-metal box with a hinged and latching door (similar to your circuit-breaker panel). It mounts on the wall (or nearby a post or support) by hanging the control box by a few keyholes on basic screws that have been secured in the wall. Inside of the Control Center door, there is a small LCD display screen (similar to a digital watch), which displays the average salinity reading, temperature, cell volts, cell current, chosen percentage chlorine output, instantaneous salinity, and different cell type settings. The controls have a dial that is used to raise and lower chlorine output, and a three-position switch to activate the system, deactivate the system, or activate the super chlorination mode.
Note: Hayward does not include a power cord or other needed connectors, grommets, or accessories with which to the control box is to be wired to your power supply.
The Hayward Aqua Rite TurboCell is an inline opaque-plastic housing which contains built-in titanium electrode plates and built-in power supply cord. The AquaRite salt cell has threaded connections on the inlet and outlet, which allow quick access for service or winter removal (if applicable). The threaded connections attach to 2" unions which are glued to the existing return-line PVC plumbing.
The Hayward Aqua Rite includes with it two 2" Threaded Unions, Flow Switch, and Instruction Manual.
Note: The manufacturer does not include a power cord with the Hayward Aqua Rite. The wiring harness will need to be purchased from a local hardware supply.
