The CircuPool SJ-40 Classic replacement cell is compatible with all first generation SJ-Series Control Modules, except the SJ-55. The SJ-40 Classic salt cell is the factory original replacement cell model designed to easily drop in place and allow you to replace your old SJ-40 Classic cell in minutes. This cell is made to meet or exceed original factory specs and has 100% guaranteed compatibility.

Replacing the SJ-40 Classic cell will allow your salt chlorine generator to begin chlorinating again if your old SJ-40 Classic salt cell has been depleted. The SJ-40 Classic cell sanitizes your swimming pool in an eco-friendly and cost-efficient way, and also helps provide a luxurious swimming experience without the eye irritation and dry skin.

Sizing:

When replacing your SJ-40 Classic salt cell, take this opportunity to make sure it is sized correctly. Sizing your salt cell properly is key to making sure you will not need to supplement with additional chlorine or shock your pool, and also extends the lifespan of your cell. The industry recommends using a salt cell with a max capacity of 1.5-2 times the actual size of your pool (more is better). The SJ-40 Classic is manufacturer rated for a maximum capacity of 40,000 gallons.

Compatibility:

This replacement salt cell for the SJ-40 Classic is 100% compatible with original systems (no software/firmware issues). The SJ-40 Classic cell has the same length, threading, and cable connection for direct replacement.

To get the most life out of your salt cell and to keep your pool running without unexpected interruptions, make sure it is sized correctly, maintain correct water balance, and be sure and inspect your cell at least every 3 months for leaks, debris, and calcium scale. Be sure to follow instructions in the product manual and clean the cell as often as the system indicates.

I just purchased a new salt cell for my salt chlorinator, which I purchased seven or eight years ago
I've had your salt chlorinator, and it has been the best for the last seven years. It's easy to maintain, and my pool is always looking amazing.

Q: So there is no cord, right? I have to use existing cord, how is that done?

A: This replacement cell includes the titanium electrodes as well as the cord. It only doesn't include the clear housing, as the original housing that came with the system is attached to your plumbing and does not need replacing.

Q: I may need to replace my cell in my SJ-30. If I replace it with the pictured SJ-40 with the blue cap, here is my question. Does the old cell/sensor attach to the cap? Does the old cap pry off? If so, does the new cell attach to the old cap? Thanks for your help.

A: It would be a plug and play replacement. When you replace the cell, you'll unscrew your cell from the plumbing and unplug it's cable from the controls. The new cell has it's own threaded cap and new cable.

Q: Will they Sj 40 work with a sj 30 board?

A: The CircuPool SJ Series salt chlorinators are able to operate correctly with their original size cell or a smaller cell.
So, in this instance, an SJ30 control module can't correctly operate an SJ40 replacement salt cell.

The CircuPool  SJ-Series Electrolytic Cell is a removable titanium electrode and built-in power supply cord, which gets placed into a clear plumbing housing. The SJ-40 cell is unique; its design reduces the need for cleaning mineral deposits and is one of the only systems that does not require acid to clean the cell. Mineral deposits can be removed from the cell with included cleaning wand. The SJ clear cell housing mates to threaded connections on the head of the cell, which allows quick access to the titanium plates for service or winter removal (if applicable). The clear cell makes it possible to see the chlorine generation and to more easily inspect the cell.
