The APEX V9 replacement cell is compatible with various Hayward® salt pool systems, including Goldline® AquaRite®, AquaRite Pro®, AquaLogic®, Pro Logic®, SwimPure Plus®, Mineral Springs®, NatureSoft®, SplashCLEAR®, AquaPlus®, LeverEdge Guardian®, and Blue Essence®. Designed as a generic replacement, the APX-V9 salt cell facilitates quick and easy installation for replacing old Aquarite cells. APEX Pool cells ensure optimal performance and reliability when replacing a T-Cell-9®, and is guaranteed to work with your salt pool system.
Replacing a depleted AquaRite 25k cell with a new one will reactivate your salt chlorine generator, resuming chlorine production for your pool. The APEX APX-V9 cell allows you to continue to sanitize your swimming pool in an eco-friendly and cost-efficient way.
Sizing:
When replacing your T-CELL-9 or W3-TCELL-9 salt cell, take this opportunity to make sure it is sized correctly. Sizing your salt cell properly is key to making sure you will not need to supplement with additional chlorine or shock your pool, and also extends the lifespan of your cell. The industry recommends using a salt cell with a max capacity of 1.5-2 times the actual size of your pool (more is better). The APX-V9 cell is manufacturer rated for a maximum capacity of 25,000 gallons.
Compatibility:
This aftermarket replacement salt cell for the Aquarite is 100% compatible with original systems of the same size (no software/firmware issues). The APEX APX-V9 cell has the same length, threading, and cable connection for direct replacement.
The APEX V9 Cell is not manufactured, endorsed, or sold by Hayward. Neither APEX nor the V9 cell is affiliated with Hayward; the use of manufacturer names, product names, part numbers, or such trademarks herein are included for compatibility designations and informational purposes only.
To get the most life out of your salt cell and to keep your pool running without unexpected interruptions, make sure it is sized correctly, maintain correct water balance, and be sure and inspect your cell at least every 3 months for leaks, debris, and calcium scale. Be sure to follow instructions in the product manual and clean the cell as often as the system indicates.
General FAQ
If your salt cell needs to be replaced, you probably have a problem with low chlorine, but if your chlorine level is a problem then the cell is only one of several possible issues, notably including excessive chlorine demand. Essentially, you have either a system problem or a water problem.
System problems will generally reveal themselves with error messages or warning lights on the control module. The typical indications of the cell needing replacement will be one or both of the following: Low Salt warnings that are present with correct salinity and Check/Clean Cell warnings that display when the cell is verifiably clean.
If you are referring to buying the same brand, there’s no question that the original OEM salt cell is exactly what your system was designed to use. However, commonly there are aftermarket replacement cells available which fit into place and operate quite satisfactorily. It is your prerogative to employ one of these aftermarket replacements if you are satisfied with the specifications, price warranty, and reported compatibility.
If you were asking about buying the same capacity cell, then OEM or aftermarket alike, you need to first determine whether your control or power module can accommodate a different size. Assuming you can change sizes, a larger cell is virtually always a good choice. However, in downsizing, make sure the smaller cell is still sufficiently large to maintain 1.5-2 times sizing of the cell relative to the pool’s volume.

I have an 8000 gallon pool. I need to replace the salt cell that has failed. The failed cell was a Hayward TCELL940. I believe this salt cell was a little bit of an overkill when installed. What would be a good aftermarket replacement cell.

The APEX V9 electrolytic cell features an inline, opaque-plastic housing with integrated titanium electrode plates and a built-in power supply cord. Its salt cell is designed with threaded connections equivalent to those of the Hayward AquaRite and others (refer to description), enabling swift service access or removal for winterization (where applicable).
