The APEX C5 salt cell is an alternative replacement for CompuPool CPSC24 and CPA salt chlorine generators. This APEX C5 salt cell is an aftermarket replacement cell designed for perfect fit so it can easily drop in place and allow you to replace your old CPSC24 cell in minutes. Not made by Compu Pool, this cell is an economical choice to restore your chlorine generator's operation and has 100% guaranteed compatibility.
Replacing your salt cell with the APEX C5 will allow your salt chlorine generator to begin chlorinating again if your old CPSC24 salt cell has been depleted. The APEX C5 cell sanitizes your swimming pool in an eco-friendly and cost-efficient way, and also helps provide a luxurious swimming experience without the eye irritation and dry skin.
Sizing:
When replacing your CPSC24 system's salt cell, take this opportunity to make sure it is sized correctly. Sizing your salt cell properly is key to making sure you will not need to supplement with additional chlorine or shock your pool, and also extends the lifespan of your cell. The industry recommends using a salt cell with a max capacity of 1.5-2 times the actual size of your pool (more is better). The APEX C5 is manufacturer rated for a maximum capacity of 24,000 gallons.
Compatibility:
This aftermarket replacement salt cell for the CPSC24 is guaranteed to work with original systems of the same size (no software/firmware issues). The APEX C5 cell has the same length, threading, and cable connection for easy replacement and perfect fit of original part JD363130C.
The APEX C5 Cell is not manufactured, endorsed, or sold by Compu Pool. Neither APEX nor the C5 cell is affiliated with Compu Pool; the use of manufacturer names, product names, part numbers, or such trademarks herein are included for compatibility designations and informational purposes only.
To get the most life out of your salt cell and to keep your pool running without unexpected interruptions, make sure it is sized correctly, maintain correct water balance, and be sure and inspect your cell at least every 3 months for leaks, debris, and calcium scale. Be sure to follow instructions in the product manual and clean the cell as often as the system indicates.
General FAQ
If your salt cell needs to be replaced, you probably have a problem with low chlorine, but if your chlorine level is a problem then the cell is only one of several possible issues, notably including excessive chlorine demand. Essentially, you have either a system problem or a water problem.
System problems will generally reveal themselves with error messages or warning lights on the control module. The typical indications of the cell needing replacement will be one or both of the following: Low Salt warnings that are present with correct salinity and Check/Clean Cell warnings that display when the cell is verifiably clean.
If you are referring to buying the same brand, there’s no question that the original OEM salt cell is exactly what your system was designed to use. However, commonly there are aftermarket replacement cells available which fit into place and operate quite satisfactorily. It is your prerogative to employ one of these aftermarket replacements if you are satisfied with the specifications, price warranty, and reported compatibility.
If you were asking about buying the same capacity cell, then OEM or aftermarket alike, you need to first determine whether your control or power module can accommodate a different size. Assuming you can change sizes, a larger cell is virtually always a good choice. However, in downsizing, make sure the smaller cell is still sufficiently large to maintain 1.5-2 times sizing of the cell relative to the pool’s volume.

Q:
Can I replace my CPSC 16 with a CPSC 24? I have a 15,000 pool but it wasn't able to produce quiet enough chlorine for the pool so I had to supplement with tablets. Maybe the CPSC 24 will charge a little better in my same equipment.

The APEX C5 Electrolytic Cell is a removable titanium electrode with 5 plates. The APEX C5 salt cell has a pressure-fit connection on the head of the cell, and is held in place by the system's existing threaded lock-ring, which allow quick access to the titanium plates for service or winter removal (if applicable). The clear cell makes it possible to see the chlorine generation and to more easily inspect the cell.
