FAQ

Q: Will this unit work for above ground pools. My pool is 33' round with 54" walls

Asked by: Lightn - 2/8/2022
A: This model is commonly used with above ground pools. That size pool would work out to be about 29,000 gallons, the Universal55 would likely be a great choice to ensure that you have plenty of capacity. This model comes with both 2" and 1.5" pvc unions. Q: Can the generator be too big for the size of the pool?

Asked by: Goody - 2/23/2023
A: Within reason, the answer is typically no. Rather, having higher capacity is a major benefit, making it easier to keep the water blue and giving more long term value. You can see more sizing information here: https://www.discountsaltpool.com/what-size-salt-pool-system-is-right-for-me

Q: How much return line space is needed for the Universal 55 flow switch and cell?

Asked by: Lynn - 4/20/2022
A: You would want at least 16-20" of space all together. Alternatively, you can reduce how much space it takes down to about 8" by using this installation kit: https://www.discountsaltpool.com/circupool-vertical-installation-kit

Q: Can this unit be plugged in to an existing Hayward Power Center for the T-15 Cell?

Asked by: Matt - 7/22/2023
A: This is a complete chlorine generator system, the salt cell and the power center. It would replace an existing t15 cell in the plumbing without modification, and its power center should typically get wired up the same way as the old one getting replaced. It would not work correctly to hook components of different brands together as you mention.

Q: Can this be an initial install and not a replacement of an existing chlorinator? DYI of course.

Asked by: brian davidson - 1/2/2024
A: Yes, this model is also perfectly fine to be used for the initial install of a salt chlorine generator on a pool system.
