The CircuPool SJ-55 Classic replacement cell is compatible with the first-generation SJ-55 Classic Series Control Modules only. The SJ-55 Classic salt cell is the factory original replacement cell model designed to easily drop in place and allow you to replace your old SJ-55 Classic cell in minutes. This cell is made to meet or exceed original factory specs and has 100% guaranteed compatibility.

Replacing the SJ-55 Classic cell will allow your salt chlorine generator to begin chlorinating again if your old SJ-55 Classic salt cell has been depleted. The SJ-55 Classic cell sanitizes your swimming pool in an eco-friendly and cost-efficient way, and also helps provide a luxurious swimming experience without the eye irritation and dry skin.

Sizing:

When replacing your SJ-55 Classic salt cell, take this opportunity to make sure it is sized correctly. Sizing your salt cell properly is key to making sure you will not need to supplement with additional chlorine or shock your pool, and also extends the lifespan of your cell. The industry recommends using a salt cell with a max capacity of 1.5-2 times the actual size of your pool (more is better). The SJ-55 Classic is manufacturer rated for a maximum capacity of 55,000 gallons.

Compatibility:

This replacement salt cell for the SJ-55 Classic is 100% compatible with original systems (no software/firmware issues). The SJ-55 Classic cell has the same length, threading, and cable connection for direct replacement.

To get the most life out of your salt cell and to keep your pool running without unexpected interruptions, make sure it is sized correctly, maintain correct water balance, and be sure and inspect your cell at least every 3 months for leaks, debris, and calcium scale. Be sure to follow instructions in the product manual and clean the cell as often as the system indicates.

FAQ

Q: Would the SJ 55 replacement cell fit in a SJ 40 clear housing and if so would the controller be able to get the 55 output out of it Thx

Asked by: Don - 1/3/2021
A: While it could utilize the clear housing, only a SJ55 control module has the correct size transformer to power a SJ55 cell.

Q: I bought this from you last year and I can’t find my manual and would like to clean the cell but don’t know how to open it. Do you have a manual online?

Asked by: CircuPool SJ-55 Salt Chlorine - 6/10/2021
A: The blue cell cap unscrews from the clear housing. You can see the manual here https://www.circupool.com/assets/doc/CircuPool-SJ-Manual.pdf

Q: Does this wear out over time? Mine that I installed a few years ago seems to have become less effective. I clean it at least annually but even without mineral buildup its not as effective as it once was.

Asked by: D - 1/12/2022
A: When a salt cell finally wears out, you'll get an error light because the system can detect its not working. If it seems harder to maintain the CL level, that typically indicates something causing higher chlorine demand in the pool water chemistry. This can be very common.

Q: I’ve owned the SJ - 55 for a number of years but the cell is becoming less efficient as the calcium buildup on the electrodes is happening faster and faster after cleaning, so it seems I need a new electrode. My question is how long can I expect the wall mounted control module to last? Maybe I should just purchase both…

Asked by: Darryl - 5/16/2022
A: Darryl, more frequent cleaning is typically a telltale sign of a "high saturation index" water chemistry condition. That is something that you can balance, and then the cell should get much less frequent scaling like it used to. The controller is made to be able to run multiple cells.

Q: My ask Jay 55 circuit pole is leaking. The blue and where the power cord attaches is cracked. The cell works fine but loosing water. This is the second time I have an issue. Before it leaked at the opening where the cord came out. How do I replace the blue end without buying a new cell. Mine is not old and works.

Asked by: Tifferiffic - 8/19/2023
A: Depending on the damage, there may be a way to replace just the female threaded cap that I believe you are indicating. You would want to contact manufacturer support at 888-206-9938.
