The CircuPool SJ-20 Classic replacement cell is compatible with all SJ Classic Control Modules, except the SJ55NR (Not compatible with newer SJ-A series models). The SJ-20 Classic salt cell is the factory original replacement cell model designed to easily drop in place and allow you to replace your old SJ-20 Classic cell in minutes. This cell is made to meet or exceed original factory specs and has 100% guaranteed compatibility.

Replacing the SJ-20 Classic cell will allow your salt chlorine generator to begin chlorinating again if your old SJ-20 Classic salt cell has been depleted. The SJ-20 Classic cell sanitizes your swimming pool in an eco-friendly and cost-efficient way and also helps provide a luxurious swimming experience without eye irritation and dry skin.

Sizing:

When replacing your Circupool SJ-20 Classic salt cell, take this opportunity to make sure it is sized correctly. Sizing your salt cell properly is key to making sure you will not need to supplement with additional chlorine or shock your pool, and also extends the lifespan of your cell.

The industry recommends using a salt cell with a max capacity of 1.5-2 times the actual size of your pool (more is better). The Circupool SJ-20 Classic salt chlorine generator is manufacturer rated for a maximum capacity of 20,000 gallons.

Compatibility:

This replacement salt cell for the Circupool SJ-20 Classic is 100% compatible with original SJ-20 Classic systems (no software/firmware issues). The Circupool SJ-20 cell has the same length, threading, and cable connection for direct replacement.

Not compatible with next-generation SJ-A models.

To get the most life out of your salt cell and to keep your pool running without unexpected interruptions, make sure it is sized correctly, maintain correct water balance, and be sure and inspect your cell at least every 3 months for leaks, debris, and calcium scale. Be sure to follow instructions in the product manual and clean the cell as often as the system indicates.

FAQ

Q: Hi,i need a new cell and i don't know what sj unit i have. I have a in ground play pool 5ft deep if i get a bigger cell will it fit in my housing?

Asked by: Mike - 9/12/2017
A: Yes, all SJ cells fit in the same plumbing housing. You could upgrade to a cell as large as the SJ40 cell (SJ55 size systems have a special dedicated Control Module with more powerful components, so if you don't already have that size Control Module it wouldn't work.) In general, bigger is better because the system can create more chlorine with less effort and wear-and-tear, and is usually a better value.

Q: my sj-20 unit has about 9000 hours in use. How can I tell if it needs replacement?

Asked by: Fred - 4/6/2020
A: In general, if you get an warning light on the controller and you rule out the following, then its time to replace the cell: make sure your salt level is in range, the cell is clean, water is completely filling the cell, the water temperature is in the high 60's, and you have a good tight connection on the cell cord.

Q: SJ series Is there a way that a cell can be sent in to have it checked?

Asked by: Larry W Richie - 1/17/2023
A: Give our support team a call at 866-766-5243 x2. In almost all cases a cell's performance can be checked following some basic instructions, but if desired we can assist you in sending equipment for factory support.
