The CFICGEN40 salt chlorinator system comes with an onboard digital controller that allows you to adjust chlorine output with a tap of a button, and displays the actual salinity in PPM, and features a boost mode and other onboard diagnostics built directly into the salt cell. The CFICGEN40 installation is easy , and comes with a power supply unit that mounts on the wall nearby your other pool equipment.

The CFICGEN40 is an affordable option that can provide big savings over more expensive similar models. Plus, it's an easy drop-in replacement with guaranteed compatible connections for the Pentair IC-40 (as well as IC-20 and IC-60). It's cell size, union threading, and power adapter cord (standard 14') are compatible with the Intellichlor models.

Q: Just installed this, replacing my Intellichlor40, and the Salt Level light is blinking red. I check the salinity level and its at 4790, which is just over the 4500 for the ideal range. Will this unit still produce chlorine with this level of salt and the Salt High light blinking? Thank you.

Asked by: Chris Houser - 7/28/2022
A: The manual says the red light will flash if the salinity is between 4500 PPM to 6000 PPM, so you'll need to lower the salinity level in the pool.

Q: The red "salt level" light is blinking and the display message on the controller says "WARNING: ADD WATER" The unit will not generate chlorine. My salt level is fine and my pool chemistry is perfect, but I am having to manually add chlorine. I cannot find anything about this error in the owners manual or online.

Asked by: JT - 9/7/2022
A: Have you cleaned the cell a few times? Dirty salt cells can read low salt / water.

Q: I got a CFICGEN40 to replace my Pentair Intellichlor. The Pentair was installed vertically. The users manual says to install the replacement horizontally. Can the CFICGEN40 be installed vertically?

Asked by: Tripp Livingston - 5/28/2023
A: These work equally well whether installed vertically or horizontally.

Q: Why is the red led light "flow" the only one on? And, how can I correct it? Thank you.

Asked by: Tripp Livingston - 6/2/2023
A: This would indicate that either the flow switch is not being properly triggered by the water, or perhaps the flow switch cable is not properly connected.

Q: I have had this unit for just over 4 months. The percent generating is no longer working. For the last week the chlorine level in the pool has been very high. I have been bringing the generation down from the normal 40% to 30%, 20% and finaly 10%. The cell generate light never turns off, no matter when I look at it, it is on, unless I go to 0%. How do I get warranty help with this?

Asked by: Chrtistopher Ernst - 10/8/2023
A: This is not a common occurrence and so we encourage you to call in to our technical support staff at (866) 766-5243 with your serial number and they will assist you and process any necessary warranty claim.
