Optional - For use with DE Filters

When recharging DE filters, this optional installation kit can be used to route water around the TJ16 prefilter during the process of adding DE (Diatomacios Earth) powder to the skimmer. This bypass allows the DE powder to reach the grids in your DE Filter, instead of being caught by the centrifugal filtration of the TJ16. This item is not typically needed if a cartridge or sand filter is present.

Q: Do i need to use the bypass when i add salt, powdered shock, etc. to my pool? i know i must use it to add D.E.

A: Good question - it is primarily for the DE powder which needs to be sure to reach the DE Filter. If there were anything else that, like the DE powder needed to be added in a concentrated form directly to the skimmer and needs to make it past the prefilter, you would use the bypass. However, I'm not immediately able to think of any other examples. Most other chemical additions are meant to go into the body of the pool and dissolve and disperse.
