The CFICGEN40 is a powerful salt chlorine generator, which makes up to 2.1 lbs/day of chlorine so your equipment can run less, use less energy, and last longer!
The CFICGEN40 salt chlorinator system comes with an onboard digital controller that allows you to adjust chlorine output with a tap of a button, and displays the actual salinity in PPM, and features a boost mode and other onboard diagnostics built directly into the salt cell. The CFICGEN40 installation is easy , and comes with a power supply unit that mounts on the wall nearby your other pool equipment.
The CFICGEN40 is an affordable option that can provide big savings over more expensive similar models. Plus, it's an easy drop-in replacement with guaranteed compatible connections for the Pentair IC-40 (as well as IC-20 and IC-60). It's cell size, union threading, and power adapter cord (standard 14') are compatible with the Intellichlor models.

General FAQ
These saltwater chlorine generator systems come with everything you need except salt, PVC glue, primer, a saw, and a few common tools.
In addition to adding salt to your pool water, installation entails adding one new piece of equipment to your pool. This can be performed by a handyman, plumber, electrician, pool contractor or Do-It-Yourself (DIY).
If you are contemplating installation, read more here.
The simple, industry-wide, rule-of-thumb is that your salt system should be sized at 1.5 times your pool size, or more, for the temperate and colder parts of the US.
If you live in the southern sunbelt, then you should select a system with specs of at least 2 times your pool size.
Bear in mind that an undersized system will be a constant challenge, at best, while an oversized system will extend cell life and give you reserve capacity for weather events and periods of heavy use.

Q:
Just installed this, replacing my Intellichlor40, and the Salt Level light is blinking red. I check the salinity level and its at 4790, which is just over the 4500 for the ideal range. Will this unit still produce chlorine with this level of salt and the Salt High light blinking? Thank you.

Q:
The red "salt level" light is blinking and the display message on the controller says "WARNING: ADD WATER" The unit will not generate chlorine. My salt level is fine and my pool chemistry is perfect, but I am having to manually add chlorine. I cannot find anything about this error in the owners manual or online.

Q:
I have had this unit for just over 4 months. The percent generating is no longer working. For the last week the chlorine level in the pool has been very high. I have been bringing the generation down from the normal 40% to 30%, 20% and finaly 10%. The cell generate light never turns off, no matter when I look at it, it is on, unless I go to 0%. How do I get warranty help with this?

The generic CFICGEN40 controls are built-in to the electrolytic cell. It has a bright LED screen that that displays the actual measured salt levels, ten sanitizer output power levels, and LED indicator lights to display if there is an issue with the salt level, water flow, water temperature, or whether the cell requires checking or service. The controls also have a built-in mechanical flow switch that ensure sufficient water flow for chlorine generation. Under low water temperature conditions, the control's automatic shut-off feature protects the unit and prolongs cell life.
The CFICGEN40 electrolytic cell is an inline opaque-plastic housing which contains built-in titanium electrode plates, built-in electronic controls, built-in flow switch, and built-in power supply cord. The CFICGEN40 salt cell has threaded connections on the inlet and outlet, which allows direct replacement of original OEM Pentair Intelli Chlor salt cells and quick access for service or winter removal (if applicable). The threaded connections attach to the original unions which are glued to the existing return-line PVC plumbing.
